A few months before the launch of Apple’s 2024 iPhone series, rumors about the iPhone 17 planned for 2025 continue unabated. According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 17 series will come with an ultra-thin model, but this new model will take us back to the past with a single camera design.
Old innovation in ultra-thin iPhone 17 design
The iPhone 17 Slim looks like it will stand out with its design. According to leaks from Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this model will have a display of around 6.6 inches and will be similar in size to the current iPhone 15 series. It will have the A19 chip inside, but this chip will be a lower version of the A19 Pro that will power the Pro models.
Its frame will be made of a titanium-aluminum alloy, but with a lower percentage of titanium than the current Pro and Pro Max models. Standard iPhone 17 models will continue to use aluminum frames.
Is the single camera design returning?
The most striking feature of the iPhone 17 Slim is that it will have only one rear wide-angle camera. This is unprecedented with the exception of the iPhone SE and iPhone XR, which have been released with a single camera for the last six generations. While it is customary for Apple to use at least two cameras on all of its flagship models in recent years, it remains to be seen how this single-camera return will be received by users.
So what is the purpose of this ultra-thin iPhone 17 Slim series? It seems that Apple will position this model to appeal to consumers who are more aesthetically minded and don’t care too much about technical details. Apple is expected to market this model with an emphasis on design and a high price tag.
Will the iPhone 17 Slim’s sleek design be enough to attract fans despite its missing camera and technical features? Time will tell. The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch late next year, so what we know now may not be all there is.
Ming-Chi Kuo also notes that the iPhone 17 series could say goodbye to the Plus variant and that there could be a broader shift in Apple’s smartphone strategy. What do you think? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
